| Our Environment
Gray Wolf is located in the Pacific Northwest, which is well known
for its abundance of recreational opportunities. The mountains
and lakes of the Olympic and North Cascade National Parks, the
waters of Puget Sound, and the islands of the San Juans provide
virtually unlimited areas for hiking, backpacking, sailing, kayaking,
and canoeing.
The beauty and serenity of the wilderness encourages us to take
the time for reflection,
growth, and healing. Being away from the distractions of day-to-day life
makes it easier to build relationships and strengthen bonds, and gives
us a chance to gain new perspectives.
No Experience Needed
The outdoor program at Gray Wolf is designed for novices. Most
of our residents have had no prior camping, paddling, sailing,
or wilderness experience. Any necessary gear is provided by Gray
Wolf, so no special purchases are required. Our treks are led by
highly trained outdoor professionals who are skilled instructors
and counselors. They enthusiastically share their love of the mountains
and the sea with our residents.
Safety First
Gray Wolf has an excellent safety record and meets or exceeds
national standards in outdoor programming. We are accredited by
the Association for Experiential Education, the same organization
that accredits leading outdoor schools such as Outward Bound and
the National Outdoor Leadership School.
