Dear Kris,
As Greg is approaching his two-year anniversary
of sobriety, we want to express our thanks for the vital
part you have played in our son's recovery. Many people
and factors have contributed to Greg's sobriety, especially
his own strength and courage through some challenging times.
But it was when you became Greg's counselor at Gray Wolf
that we saw a change in Greg. He lost "the attitude" and
truly began to listen to and respect what you were teaching
him. As Greg put it, "Kris is good," which meant
that, "we can't fool him and he knows what's going
on." Yet Greg respected the fact that you were never
condescending.
When Greg returned to high school and faced
an extremely challenging time, it was your guidance and
encouragement that helped pull him through. Directing Greg
to Augsburg's Step-up Program was crucial in his continued
recovery. We also want to thank you for your time and guidance
to us when we called with our concerns. To this day, when
Greg is faced with a challenge, he says, "I need to
talk to Kris." Not only does our son think of you
as a counselor, but as a mentor and dear friend. We know
your job has touched the lives of many young men, but we
are so grateful for how it has changed the life of our
son. This world is truly blessed to have you in it.
With gratitude,
Greg's parents
