SCHOOL TIME

Gray Wolf Ranch now offers our residents a choice of education programs. Students can work towards their General Education Diploma (GED), pursue an Independent Study program, or take correspondence courses. The instructor and supervisor for the programs is Mr. Dick Atkins. Mr. Atkins taught and coached in the Port Townsend School District for thirty years while he and his wife raised six children. He is well aware of the many problems, needs, and concerns of teenage boys, and we are fortunate to have his guidance.

In working towards their GED, students take classes in five broad subject areas: Math, Science, English and Writing, Social Science, and Literature. When they are ready to qualify for their diploma, the students take their final tests at Peninsula College in Port Angeles. If they leave Gray Wolf before having the chance to test, they may complete their diploma back at home.

Another option for residents is an Independent Study program administered through their home high school. This program allows the student to continue his studies at the same pace as his classmates at home. Students can also take correspondence courses offered by a large number of colleges throughout the U.S
