3 YEAR CARF ACCREDITATION    A NOTE FROM PETER B.

In 1999, Gray Wolf Ranch was awarded a one-year credential from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). We are now pleased to report that Gray Wolf has received a second consecutive license from CARF with a three-year accreditation for our programs for Alcohol and Other Drugs; Children and Adolescents; and Residential Treatment. This license, which is the highest level of accreditation available to us, is awarded to organizations that show substantial fulfillment of the stringent standards established by CARF. In awarding the certification, CARF expresses confidence that Gray Wolf's established patterns of operations will continue to meet their standards in the future.

According to Donald E. Galvin, Ph.D., President and CEO of CARF, "Gray Wolf Ranch has put itself through a rigid peer review process and has demonstrated that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable."

It is noteworthy that we earned this level of accreditation in less than four years of operation. It is also noteworthy that taking part in the accreditation process is voluntary for Gray Wolf Ranch. We feel that it is important for us to undergo the same level of scrutiny that is required of agencies in our field.

We are very proud of this accomplishment. It reinforces our belief that by providing state-of-the-art care and by adhering to Gray Wolf's mission statement, all of us (residents, staff, and families) can succeed.

By Peter Boeschenstein, Founder Welcome to the 8th edition of the Pathfinder. In our four years of operation, we have had over 250 admissions to the Gray Wolf Ranch program. During this time, the mission of Gray Wolf Ranch has remained the same: to provide a natural, safe, and supportive setting for beginning a structured progression towards a sober lifestyle. We continue to push ourselves on a daily basis to be the best extended-care halfway house in the country. We work hard to serve the young men who come to us on their journey of recovery.

We have seen many changes since we opened our doors four years ago. Our program is continually evolving and growing to meet the diverse and often complex needs of our residents, and our scope of services continues to expand as we strive to achieve excellence in the field of addiction recovery. We are very proud to have been awarded accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. This is a major accomplishment for us--one we've worked very hard to achieve. We have also recently been awarded accreditation by the Association for Experiental Education for our wilderness program.

Even our physical appearance here at Gray Wolf keeps changing. We have recently added onto our Wolf's Den house--an independent living option for our graduates--as demand for that "next step" has grown. We have also opened another sober house in Port Townsend.

It continues to be a privilege and an honor for me to work with the young men and the talented staff at Gray Wolf and to watch as families are brought back together and relationships are healed. I continue to be blessed on a daily basis and I look forward to new challenges as our program keeps moving ahead. As always, I welcome your questions and comments and appreciate your support.

The new addition to the Wolf's Den is now complete. It will provide additional space for residents who meet our criteria.
