FOUNDATION MAKES TREATMENT POSSIBLE
I am very pleased to share the news that we
have just awarded our largest scholarship to date through the 4806
Foundation--a gift that will enable another young man to receive
treatment at Gray Wolf Ranch. Without the financial assistance from
4806, it wouldn’t have
been possible for him to take part in our recovery program.
From our experiences at Gray Wolf Ranch, it was clear that many young
adults and their families could not afford the treatment which was
needed. Based on the belief that nobody should be turned away because
of financial need, the 4806 Foundation was formed to provide scholarships
for deserving young adults who want to make a profound lifestyle
change--to turn their lives around and to become sober and productive.
The nonprofit 4806 Foundation provides financial resources for young
people who are seeking treatment for substance abuse and related
disorders.
The Foundation, although in its infancy, has already made a difference
in young people’s lives. As we move into the holiday giving
season, I hope that you will consider making a gift. If you are interested
in learning more about the Foundation or would like to make a donation,
please visit our website at www.4806foundation.com or call 866-385-4806
toll free. With your support, the 4806 Foundation can continue to
help young adults on their journey of recovery.
Best Wishes

FROM
THE TREK PROGRAM MANAGER
For the past three years, Craig Isenberg has enjoyed working as a Trek Leader for Gray Wolf Ranch and has made a smooth transition into the Trek Program Manager position. Craig has many years of experience in outdoor and experiential education. He has taught courses for the Wilderness Medicine Institute of NOLS; has guided kayakers throughout the local waters of Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands; has taught cross-country skiing in the Cascades and Rocky Mountains; and has led trips for Wilderness Ventures in the Rockies, Pacific Northwest, and Alaska. He also worked for the Yosemite Institute as an environmental educator. "It's not so much the specific activity that interested me," he explains, "but rather the students and what they could learn from the experience that kept me coming back for more."

While working as a Communications Operator at theAmundsen-Scott South Pole Station,
Craig decided it was time to settle down and he and his wife Sarah decided
that Port Townsend would be the perfect place to grow some roots. "Working with the residents at Gray Wolf has opened up my eyes to how powerful a tool wilderness can be in a therapeutic sense," he says. "On trek, everyday distractions are removed, and guys are faced with both physical and mental challenges that take a strong will and some help from their peers to overcome. We wake up, eat, travel, eat again, and sleep, and it's this simplicity that can tame everyday complexities. |
