FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Residents working at the high school level have a number of options.
With our certified teacher as a liaison, residents can:
- earn high school credit for their work through our partnership
with the Port Townsend School District’s very successful alternative
education program, Mar Vista.

- complete work sent by their home high school, which issues
the credit for completed work.
- take courses through on-line or independent study programs
offered by high schools and universities throughout the U.S.
- prepare for and take the GED examination. This approach works
well for older students (beyond high school age), residents who
have dropped out of school, and students who are very close to
graduating. The GED tests are administered through Peninsula
College.

Those desiring to do so may also participate in the Running Start
Program in which they can simultaneously earn credit at the high
school
and college levels.

ONLINE CURRICULUM SYSTEM
In addition to traditional assignments and coursework, our students
have access to a national program called NovaNet. This comprehensive,
online curriculum system offers thousands of hours of interactive
studies and assessment. Even after their residency at Gray Wolf,
students can continue their work anywhere in the US where the system
is available.

COURSEWORK OFFERED
Through the Port Townsend Public School system, the Gray Wolf
Learning Center is able to offer credit for Social Studies, English, Math,
and Physical Education. In addition, our Life Skills instructor assists
residents with coursework in Vocational Electives, Interpersonal
Communication Electives, and Life Skills Electives. The Gray Wolf
program’s life-skills related work can earn a resident as
much as 150
credit hours toward graduation.
Tutors provide instruction for students in advanced math courses.
The
high school art requirement is met through classes and workshops
taught
by professional artists in the community. Residents have fulfilled
this
requirement with classwork in photography, pottery, maskmaking,
and
painting. Music lessons are also available.
In addition to schoolwork, the Learning Center provides residents
with
help in exploring career opportunities, preparing job applications,
and
writing resumes. Gray Wolf uses the career-interest assessment
tools
